Legal Defense Fund

At times litigation is necessary, as a last resort, for the Federation to achieve important conservation goals. The Federation’s legal efforts have resulted in many successes including protection of Florida Key Deer habitat, stopping sugar farmers from backpumping water into Lake Okeechobee, preventing Scripps from urbanizing Mecca Farms in Palm Beach County, stopping a road proposed into Picayune Strand State Forest, and saving Wakulla Springs from contamination.

Ongoing efforts include Everglades water quality issues, wetlands and panther habitat protection in Southwest Florida, and growth and development issues statewide. Please consider making a contribution in support of the Federation’s legal efforts to preserve Florida's fragile wild spaces. Most of the legal work for Federation is handled at a significantly reduced rate by environmental attorneys who truly wish to see Florida’s waters clean and her environment forever preserved.

FWF Scholarship Fund at the University of Florida, Department of Wildlife Ecology & Conservation

The Florida Wildlife Federation established an endowed scholarship fund at the University of Florida Foundation in 2004. The Scholarship Program was initiated by Tim O'Brien, the Federation's first Eagle Club member ($1,000 member), who hoped to motivate other Federation members and University of Florida/WEC alumni to donate to the scholarship endowment fund. The intent is to build the fund to $100,000. Currently the fund is about two-thirds of the way to this goal through the generous donations of many members and supporters.

The scholarships are merit-based and focus on students pursuing a career in fish and wildlife conservation, research, or related fields. The scholarships are awarded each year in April.
Please make your contribution directly through the UF Foundation's website: https://www.uff.ufl.edu/OnlineGiving/FundDetail.asp?FundCode=013403. The fund number for the FWF Scholarship Fund is: 013403.

The fund number for the Federation Scholarship is 013403 and is listed under IFAS funds. Donations can also be made by sending a check payable to the University of Florida Foundation and noting on the check that the donation is for the Florida Wildlife Federation Scholarship Fund #013403. The address is University of Florida Foundation, Inc. P.O. Box 110170, Gainesville, FL 32611-0170. Donations for this fund may also be sent to the FWF Office at: P O Box 6870, Tallahassee, FL 32314-6870 attn. Diane Hines.
